'Sweet game'

The prosecutor, handling the case, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.

She stated his targets were under-privileged children who were attending a summer camp which he managed.

The defendant engaged in a "candy game" with the children, the prosecutor explained, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".

She informed the proceedings Ruben had engaged in this activity with the young males "repeatedly", and children had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.

She explained the defendant had been able to explain this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had concerns in recently.

The prosecutor stated further: "Recently" his family member had worries about what was going on, with valid cause.

"They chose" to investigate in the man's possessions."

The prosecutor said items including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his stepson notified the police about his worries.

She explained the man continued to play the "treat game" with six boys that time - that Saturday - and they were all ill the subsequent day.

"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she added.

The regulatory agency, the investigative body, had stated that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.

The prosecutor explained the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the stepson contacted the police again.

She said the man then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five children.
